Stop turning down good jobs.
Fishtape counts every device, asks about the few it isn't sure of, and prices the job into a proposal you can send.
New project
All files you add here become one project. You can exclude pages later.
- Drop the whole setEvery PDF you add becomes one project. Fishtape reads the sheet index and sorts the sheets itself, and you can exclude pages later.
- Job details come off the title blockProject name, address, code edition and jurisdiction are read from the drawings, with the page each came from. When the drawings disagree, it asks.
- Answer questions while it countsA set usually takes 8 to 12 minutes. Questions show up while it runs, and your answers are applied when it finishes.
Fishtape asks instead of guessing.
Fishtape does most of the takeoff for you. When the plans get weird, it stops and lets you make the call.
- Is it a device?
An unlabeled circle on the ceiling that could be a junction box or could be drafting.

I used to only bid jobs I knew I'd win. Now that a takeoff takes me minutes, I'm bidding more jobs.
An estimator once asked me to find him a better way. I quit my job to learn takeoff, spent almost a year at it with dozens of electricians, then recruited two people to build this.

Your data stays private.
- Never shared with competitors
- Your plans are never shared with another customer or shown outside fishtape.
- Easy to find and reference
- Every set you run stays in your account. Pull up last spring's job and the calls you made on it.
- We learn from your plans
- Unusual symbols and legends we have not seen before make the count better. That is what we take from a set.
- Delete any time
- Ask and the set is deleted. What we already learned from it stays, because we cannot un-know a symbol.
Frequently asked questions.
What does it cost?
$199 a month on the Founder plan, for 360 plan pages a month. That is about 12 typical jobs. It bills month to month with no annual license and no setup fee. Your price does not go up while you stay subscribed, and in return you join one 30-minute feedback call a month. There are 20 Founder accounts. Full breakdown on pricing.
How long does a takeoff take?
Usually 8 to 12 minutes. Bigger sets take longer, and the screen tells you how long is left while it runs. You can answer its questions while you wait.
What labor and material pricing does it use?
Every device type is priced from an assembly: the box, ring, device, plate, small parts and the hours to install it. Stock assemblies come with labor hours and material prices. Change any of them or build your own, save them to your company library, and the next bid starts with your numbers.
What can I export?
The proposal as a PDF. The estimate workbook, supplier counts and device count as CSV files that open in Excel. Every export is also saved to the job's documents. Invoicing and QuickBooks and Xero sync are not built yet. If you need it to land somewhere else, tell us. We are building the integration list from what estimators ask for.
What is included in the free takeoff?
One full takeoff on your own plans, up to 50 pages. No credit card. You verify a US mobile number by text first, and each number gets one free takeoff.
What happens after the free takeoff?
Nothing, unless you start a plan. There is no card on file to charge.
Does it work with scanned drawings?
Yes. Scanned sheets are counted like drawn ones, with a slower, more careful pass. Anything it can't read clearly comes to you as a question instead of a guess.
What if my legend is not standard?
Almost nobody's is. A symbol the set never defines is not counted as something close enough. It comes to you with the sheet, the symbol, and what it most resembles, and you say what it is.
What if the count is wrong?
You fix it on the plan, and every answer can be undone. A device that is still unconfirmed stays out of the total until you confirm it, so the count never moves on its own.
Does this replace my current estimating software?
It covers takeoff, an estimate priced with your own assemblies, and the proposal. It does not do circuit and conduit mapping, invoicing or accounting sync yet. Those are on the list at the bottom of this page.
Skeptical? Good.
Run one of your own plan sets through it. You’ll see exactly what it wasn’t sure about before anything goes into a bid.
What ships next.
Upload a set, check the count, send a priced proposal.
Price the box, ring, device, plate, and the labor to install it. Stock or your own.
